OPEN LETTER

What should we do these times? When you try to say your opinion, there is always somebody that preempts you believing to anticipate your thoughts and your intentions. It was enough just to touch a question and anticipate something to those who follow me on the net, to trigger a discussion. Therefore, let’s go straight to the point avoiding specious arguments coming from skeptical and paranoic people in the web. What I am going to suggest is a warm and fraternal piece of advice, that goes beyond UFO and aliens, even though it is perfectly in line with my “ESTOTE PARATI” (that is, “be ready” in Latin) approach, as stated in my recent book: “UFO: OLTRE IL CONTATTO” (“UFO: Beyond the contact” – Mondadori, Oscar popular edition, Milan), sold out in three months and now reprinting. If Italians are not stupid, they should be able to understand by themselves that Mr. Letta, Mr. Napolitano, Mr. Renzi and Mr. Alfano are telling us stories (while disappointing Mr. Grillo & C. beat about the bush…) and that the crisis still continues, while things get worse and will get even worse. The crisis, after the collapse of the equally fake communist model, remains a crisis of the system, with capitalism in its agonic phase. Even worse than the Great Depression of 1929! In other words, something even worse is waiting for us with a country, Italy, that powerful people have decided to transform in a sold out reality aimed at producing a brilliant and skilled manpower at low cost. And what is for us, within the “Belpaese” under attack, a safe-haven-asset? Not gold, not houses, but the family. Indeed, if we did not have parents or grand-parents with their modest but safe pensions many youngsters would be totally hopeless. So, our small familiar “Fort Apache” that still “holds”, must be preserved, protected and safeguarded. Even if we talk about only two people, or even a single person. Yes, but how? With any possible treatment aimed at preventing any possible emergency. And the emergency nowadays has become a habit. We cannot stay there, waiting for unstable situations we cannot face. And in order to prevent the worse, it is essential to organize ourselves, ensuring the efficiency of our “family fortress” in order to avoid being caught surprisingly in any unpleasant situation, and in front of “Autorithies” that are more and more absent. While houses are hit with fascist taxations, as a sociologist I understand that in the near future strikes, perverted behaviours coming from exasperated and desperate people will be factors strongly increasing and the concrete possibility of slow downs in the supply of basic necessities is around the corner, exactly like worrying scenaries of energy emergency. Even if we perfectly know from astronomers and Civil Protection that powerful solar “flares” could soon replay the Carrington effect with following and disastrous electric black outs in the IT and in the communications. While risky geophysical and climatic situations are growing and also in this area we are expecting the worse effects (from the Vesuvius to the Marsili submerged volcano, to the expected California “Big One” to possible astronomic phenomena Celyabinsk style), the idea of not being able to face generalized critical contests is unacceptable. So, in these times, and until it is still possible, every family should seriously create a sort of “lung” in order to be independent and autonomous for 2-3 months, with at least a minimum “survival-kit” made of non-perishable food (canned fruit and vegetables, fish and meat, crackers, mineral water and long-life milk) energy supplies (batteries, candles, etc.) medicines and all that could be necessary to face difficult situations in the supply of light, gas, and fuel. The creation of this kit able to face any difficult and unexpected situation is becoming more and more essential… These practical suggestions might be considered as not “politically correct” and some of you might consider me a scaremonger, a doomsayer, a populist or… who knows what else. No problem, you are welcome. Still, I personally believe that “Prevention is better than cure.” We already are in a “sick” condition, a terminally ill situation and prevention now is mandatory… Good luck. In a short time we will all need it. However, don’t panic. Nowadays, more than ever before, long view and awareness are needed…
